In the spirit of Joseph Cornell, Louis Nevelson, and folk art traditions, we will utilize the box structure as a starting point for mixed media, assemblage sculpture. Wooden boxes are ideal containers for both images and objects, so bring in some boxes along with your collected treasures and/or purchase items from the store. Mark will assist with composition and design decisions so that the sculptures have a unified and cohesive quality. Mark will bring an assortment of hand tools, power tools, and miscellaneous hardware to help with joining problems. He will also bring in some inspirational materials and examples of his own work to help demonstrate joining solutions.

Mark studied art at the University of Northern Colorado and Metropolitan State College where he earned a B.A in 1980.   He served on the faculty at MSC for four years and currently teaches screen printing and assemblage sculpture at The Art Students League of Denver.  Mark has been creating prints, paintings, and sculptures for 40 years and exhibits regularly in Colorado. His work is in both corporate and private collections from California to Maine.
